The scammers behind these fraudulent messages use deceptive tactics to trick people into divulging personal information, falling victim to financial fraud, or downloading malware onto their devices.
Fake delivery texts are the common tactic of Canada Post. Targeted person receive messages saying that a package is waiting for them at the post office and providing a link to track the supposed delivery.
By clicking on the link, the targeted person directed to a phishing website that worked to steal their personal and financial information or download malware onto their devices. Scammers may also request payment for customs fees or delivery charges, further deceiving recipients into parting with their money under false pretenses.

- Canada Post office see emails and text messages being circulated from time to time that appear to be from Canada Post. For example, an email might inform a customer that Canada Post tried to deliver a package and asks the customer to select a link or visit a post office to arrange delivery. This is NOT from Canada Post and should be deleted. When Canada Post makes a delivery attempt, we leave a delivery notice card at your door or in your mailbox. We do not contact you by email unless you have requested it.

- Using Links: Canada Postal office do not use links but scammers use link with the text they send. By clicking link they can easily get your data. So be caution and don’t click it.
- Contact Directly Canada Post Office: Whenever you feel that you have got untrustful message by the name of Canada Post, directly contact the official office of Canada Post .
- If you think you’ve been the victim of fraud, report the incident to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre by calling 1-888-495-8501.
- Legitimate Canada Post SMS tracking or mail notifications and marketing communications will only show the sender as 272727 or 55555, and only if you have signed up to receive those notifications.
